Nod given to HDD-only 360 titles

Owners of Microsoft’s basic Core Xbox 360 may soon find themselves unable to play the latest titles following Microsoft’s announcement that developers of online MMO games will be allowed to design their titles for use on hard drive-enabled machines only.

Devs will be able to create a single ‘Master Storage File’ on user’s hard drives, though titles will have to clearly state the requirement, and the amount of hard disc space that will be needed, on the front of the box.

Microsoft has also stated that it will not place any restrictions on the amount of disc space needed, though Microsoft designer Ian Lewis has stated: Feel free to require 30GB for your game – that’s just going to make your potential audience a lot smaller.”
