Now Professor Layton is heading to iOS

One of the most cherished titles in Nintendo’s portable arsenal has announced its move into the iOS market while Studio Ghibli’s beautiful RPG Ni No Kuni has been confirmed for the West.

Japanese development giant Level-5 has revealed that a new entry in the Professor Layton series is in development for Apple devices. The news follows the arrival of Warner’s Scribblenauts on iOS last week

The game, called Layton Brothers: Mystery Room, won’t actually star Professor Layton himself and will instead feature Layton’s son. It also promises to put a new spin” on the series’ popular puzzle gameplay.

No Western release has been confirmed as of yet, but is a safe bet.

However, in better news for Western gamers Level-5 has now confirmed a US and European release for Ni No Kuni – the title it is producing with cult animators Studio Ghibli.

The visually stunning game also has a new Western-friendly name – Ni No Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch. Namco Bandai will be the publisher.
