Obsidian’s Project Eternity breaks Kickstarter records

Project Eternity, the isometric party-based RPG from Obsidian Entertainment, has become the most successful game ever on crowdfunding site Kickstarter.

Obsidian is best known for RPG hits such as Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II, Neverwinter Nights 2, Alpha Protocol, Fallout: New Vegas and the upcoming South Park: The Stick of Truth.

The developer turned to Kickstarter after finding it was almost impossible to get funding through traditional methods for a game Project Eternity”.

At the time of writing the project is on $3,415,955 with 15 hours to go. It has attracted 66,375 backers.

It set out with an initial goal of just $1.1m but has gone on to reach all 12 of its Stretch Goals, ensuring the game has every chance of delivering on every one of Obsidian’s ideas for the project.

A total of four backer pledged in excess of $10,000 each, with six pledging $5,000+ and an impressive 50 pledging over $1,000. 1,438 pledged $250+ and over 3,000 pledged $140+. The most popular bracket was $10-$24.99, attracting 25,000 pledges.
