OpenFeint co-founder steps down

The mobile gaming network’s CEO and co-founder Jason Citron has resigned after the company was sold to Gree earlier this year.

OpenFeint will now be run by Naoki Aoyagi, who is also CFO of the firm’s Japanese parent company Gree. He has ten years’ experience in finance and management including four years at Deutsche Bank.

Citron reportedly left the company to pursue new opportunities”. His departure comes after Gree acquired OpenFeint earlier this year in a $104m deal.

Aoyagi said: In just over 24 months, OpenFeint has grown to over 120m users across 7,000 games. I thank Jason for his leadership growing the company and wish him well in his new adventures.

I’m excited to lead OpenFeint through its next phase of growth.”

OpenFeint is a mobile gaming network that allows users to play against other people online. This includes games such as Fruit Ninja on iPhone.

OpenFeint and Gree will complete the integration of their respective US operations over the next few weeks.
