Ouya enters development phase

Android-based console of the people Ouya has completed its prototyping phase and now embarks on engineering verification.

A new post on the Ouya blog outlines what processes the console has been through and what’s left ahead of its eventual release.

Everything is supposedly right on schedule, with the hardware receiving the first production run of printed circuit boards last week. Ouya now enters a phase focused on testing both console and controller.

The manufacturer states that an SDK is coming soon, targeting December for a first run with products developed specifically for the console.

Additionally, Ouya has been upgraded to Android 4.2, which the company states will help ensure the hardware is as up-to-date as can be when launch arrives.
