Pac-Man and Space Invaders are heading to Facebook Messenger

Users of Facebook Messenger will soon be able to play a number of arcade hits within the app itself.

17 games have been confirmed for Facebook’s new Instant Games service, which will offer quick access to arcade titles within both Messenger and the site’s news feed, across both web and mobile. It will be launched simply by tapping an icon, differentiating Instant Games from other separate Facebook games apps.

Pac-Man, Galaga, Space Invaders, Words With Friends, Track & Field, Puzzle Bobble, Zookeeper and Arkanoid are arguably the most recognisable names among the launch line-up. Competitive multiplayer will be main focus.

Instant Games is currently in closed beta and had yet to receive an official release date
