Angry Birds cartoon in the works

The Angry Birds will soon be flying onto screens in a new animated form.

Rovio CEO Mikael Hed has announced the company has begun work on an cartoon series based on its best-selling iPhone game, according to the New York Post.

We have been looking at that for quit a while, and that is definitely one of my personal big focus areas right now – to work on broadcast content for Angry Birds,” said Hed.

It was a completely new area for us; we had to get our bearings there, and a sense of how the whole market was. That was the first part of the exercise, and now that we’ve done that, the next part is to move into production, and that’s where we are right now.”

The animated series is just one of Rovio’s latest merchandising initiatives to further spread the Angry Birds love.
