EA hopes MOH beta quiets concerns

Publisher EA has confirmed a release date for the open PC beta of Medal of Honor – and added that it hopes the release will help calm some of the concern that has dogged the game to date.

The new beta will go live on October 4th ahead of its European release on October 15th.

The open beta of the Medal of Honor multiplayer mode will allow players to sample the authenticity and adrenaline-fuelled action that the full game will offer,” EA Games Label president Frank Gibeau stated.

We also hope that by offering the multiplayer open beta we can clear up any misunderstanding about the patriotism and respect that are the foundation of this game.

The Medal of Honor franchise has always shown extraordinary reverence for American and Allied soldiers – this game is no exception.”

The game hit the headlines in August when Defence Secretary Liam Fox pleaded with games retailers to boycott the title thanks to its inclusion of the Taliban as a playable side in the multiplayer modes.

Despite the subsequent banning of the game in GameStop stores located in US military bases, the Government quickly distanced itself from Fox’s comments, and retailers have seemingly shunned his request.
