PSPgo UMD attachment rumoured

Consumer website CVG is reporting that leading peripheral manufacturer Logitech has plans to launch a UMD drive attachment for the PSPgo that will allow users to play their existing catalogue of disc-based titles.

CVG offers no price or date for the peripheral which, if real, will most likely work by plugging itself into the PSPgo’s Memory Stick Duo drive slot. Third party hard drives for the old PSP work in a similar manner.

It’s worth noting that the UK office of Logitech seemingly has no information of the device, stating: We’re not aware of it, so it may be something the US office is working on.”

Many industry observers believe Sony will release a new iteration of the PSP – which will incorporate a UMD drive – some time in 2010, making the viability of a PSPgo UMD drive arguably far less attractive.
