Steam introducers moderation into user tagging system

Valve has taken measures to try and quell the carnage caused by the Steam Tagging system.

Last week the digital service introduced the ability for users to add custom tags to games. The result? A host of titles instantly became associated with mean, abusive and spoiler-ridden tags.

Now Valve has updated the tagging beta to allow users to flag up tags that are either offensive, contain a spoiler, are not appropriate or are simply unhelpful. Enough downvotes and the tag will be removed.

We now must wait and see whether the goodwill of the many can overcome the malice of the few.
