Supreme Commander 2 announced

Having just moments ago lifted the lid on gritty action sequel Kane & Lynch 2: Dog Days, Square Enix has followed the news with confirmation of the spring 2010 release of Supreme Commander 2.

The game, which will be released on Xbox 360 and PC, will be developed by Gas Powered Games – the same studio responsible for the series’ debut outing. Set 25 after the first game, SC2 offers a number of gameplay additions to the established formula.

Supreme Commander 2 has already achieved fantastic recognition across media and the RTS community winning E3 Best Strategy Game 2009 from IGN, 1UP and GameSpot,” Square Enix’s VP of brands for PAL regions Larry Sparks stated.

We’re thrilled to be working with Gas Powered Games to release a game that really pushes the genre’s gameplay and storyline expectations to a new level.”

Gas Powered founder Chris Taylor added: The partnership with Square Enix has been a highlight of my career. I couldn’t be more proud of what the team has accomplished, as the game has continually exceeded all of my expectations throughout its development.”
