Team EnVyUs enter League of Legends

Team EnVyUs has entered the world of League of Legends by purchasing a slot in the North American LCS from Renegades.

After being banned by Riot the Renegades organisation was forced to sell its slot in the LCS and EnVyUs has stepped in as the buyer. Riot has approved the sale meaning we can expect to see EnVyUs in the LCS when the Summer Split starts.

According to ESPN’s Jacob Wolf three former Renegades players will be joining the EnVyUs team, with top laner Shin "Seraph" Woo-yeong, mid laner Noh "Ninja" Geon-woo and support Nickolas "Hakuho" Surgent all expected to stay on. Negotiations with the final two players are currently ongoing.

"We’ve been growing extremely fast," Team EnVyUs managing director Mike "Hastr0" Rufail told ESPN. "We had one Call of Duty team in 2014. And beginning in 2015, we started our expansion with Counter-Strike, and now we have eight games. Over the course of 18 months, we’ve expanded into seven different games. So that’s a big expansion for us. And the biggest missing piece was League of Legends. That’s where we wanted to go."

The move comes weeks after Team EnVyUs received venture capitalist funding from SierraMaya360. The organisation plans to build an eSports facility in Charlotte, North Carolina with the money, and continue to grow the organisation.
