Pokemon Go Plus arrives next week, is also heading to Apple Watch

The delayed Pokemon Go Plus Bluetooth accessory will be released next week.

The device, which is worn on the wrist, allows users to keep playing the game while their phone is pocketed. It vibrates and lights up when near a Pokestop or a lurking Pokemon – the latter of which can even be caught with a press of the peripheral’s button.

Pokemon Go is also coming to Apple Watch via an updated version of the Pokemon Go Plus app. This offers a wider range of functionality than the dongle. It also links up with the Apple Watch’s fitness features.

What it won’t do, however, is allow you to browse the map or catch Pokemon. A phone will still need to be used for that.

It was announced earlier that Pokemon Go has now passed 500m downloads.
