PopCap releases Bejeweled 3

Though World of Warcraft may have been hogging much of the PC limelight today, it could be argued that it’s only the second biggest release of the day. What could possibly trump it?

PopCap’s Bejeweled 3, of course.

It’s the first proper sequel to the popular series in six years. PopCap estimates that around half a billion people have played the series, with in excess of 50m units having been sold across 17 platforms. The game continues to sell at one copy every 4.3 seconds.

It boasts twice as many game modes as its predecessor and fresh, new HD graphics.

It’s available to download from PopCap and a number of digital retailers right now, and has also been given a retail release in North America.

I’ve played Bejeweled nearly every day for nine years, and have been astounded at how much more there is to explore and enjoy in Bejeweled 3 than in previous editions,” Bejeweled unofficial strategy guide author Cindy Morrison stated.

Not only do I get to play my favourite Bejeweled game with new gems and Hypercube matches, but the new Quest mode and secret mini-games are beyond incredible fun! I expected fantastic, and it’s so much more than that. My hat’s off to PopCap.”
