Pro Evo creator wanted to delay PES 2008

Despite already proving a solid commercial success, the critical reception to Konami’s Pro Evolution Soccer 2008 has been mixed – and now lead developer Shingo ‘Seabass’ Takatsuka has admitted that he has gone back to the drawing board for the development of PES 2009.

Speaking to Future’s PSM3 magazine, the legendary developer stated: "PES 2008 is so far from what we wanted. In fact, we thought about delaying it but different factors meant we had to release it. As a developer, we’ve worked the same way since the days of the SNES. We’re simply not set up for multi-platform development.

"PES 2009 is in development, but after hearing the criticism, we’ll be taking it back to the drawing board. It might not be next year, but it will be soon.”
