PS3 Home public beta nearing

Home represents arguably the biggest single development in next-gen gaming, and is certainly massive news for PS3 – so it’s not surprising that talk of a public beta for the virtual world service has sent the internet into a frenzy.

A poster on Sony’s US PlayStation blog has uploaded scans of what is claimed to be the latest edition of the US Official Playstation Magazine, which seem to suggest public access to a Home beta is very close.

SCEA senior director of PSN Susan Panico is quoted as saying: To say that Home is going to change the way you think about online communication and entertainment is a massive understatement.

It puts a human face onto social networking, but in this case, the social structure is based on a common passion – games. It’s made for gamers by gamers. Its core value is a For the people, of the people, by the people” philosophy and we want to achieve this in the most entertaining way possible.
