2K Marin hit with significant layoffs as operations reportedly cease

The Bureau: XCOM Declassified developer 2K Marin has suffered a round of layoffs, publisher 2K Games has revealed.

Game Informer reports on a statement from the publisher that confirmed a reduction of staff at the studio.

"We can confirm staff reductions at 2K Marin," a 2K Games rep stated.

While these were difficult decisions, we regularly evaluate our development efforts and have decided to reallocate creative resources. Our goal to create world-class video game titles remains unchanged."

A report out of Polygon further states that the layoff count is massive,” and one source even claimed that they were 100 per cent sure” that 2K Marin has effectively closed.

The same source claims the only employees safe from the layoffs are those who are leaving to join the new San Francisco-based 2K studio led by Gears of War and BioShock Infinite vet Rod Fergusson.
