4m of space required to play Natal?

Players with small living rooms hoping to play on Project Natal may need to re-shuffle some furniture – it will require at least four clear metres from the TV, according to reports.

Techflash has claimed a team of Microsoft reps showcasing Natal told them the exact space needed is a little more than four metres wide, at least four metres away from the TV and 2.7 metres high”.

The information was apparently given as part of a briefing for reporters and bloggers earlier this week at a technology discussion held by Craig Mundie, Microsoft’s chief officer for research and strategy.

To put Natal’s recommended distance into perspective, Nintendo’s Wii currently requires around 1m of space from the TV.

Microsoft has yet to comment on the reports.
