â??Eight and nine year-olds playing 3D is a little bit of a stretchâ?

Sonyâ??s Koller: 3D could limit Nintendo market

With 3D gaming still in its infancy, Nintendo’s surprise announcement of the 3DS yesterday marks a surprise new direction for the technology – and it’s one that has failed to convince SCEA’s director of hardware and marketing John Koller.

“I think it remains to be seen where Nintendo goes with 3D on a portable,” he told IGN.

“Having been in the portable space for quite a while, I think it’s an interesting move but one I’d like to see where they go from a demographic standpoint. Eight and nine year-olds playing 3D is a little bit of a stretch given where some of our research is right now.”

Koller went on to assert that Sony’s 3D focus remains fixed on PS3.
