Aardman to make Rabbids pilot

Ubisoft has announced a new partnership with British animator Aardman to produce a pilot and series of shorts based on the Rabbids brand.

Aardman is the brains behind hits such as Wallace and Gromit and Shaun the Sheep.

The Rabbids have already strayed beyond the realm of gaming and have appeared in ad campaigns for companies such as Renault and Coca-Cola. Ubisoft and Aardman will co-produce the project.

The not-so-subtle humour of the Rabbids has made them into icons in and beyond video games,” Ubisoft’s French studios MD Xavier Poix stated. Aardman perfectly understands that humour and we are extremely excited to be working with them to bring the Rabbids to a new medium and a new audience.”

Aardman’s head of broadcast Miles Bullough added: When the opportunity arose to work with Ubisoft on the Rabbids we leapt at it, we absolutely love the characters and can’t wait to help bring them to a television audience.”
