Report suggests EA is working beyond the upcoming Wii edition of Dead Space

â??Second and thirdâ?? Dead Space games incoming

EA dev Visceral Games is allegedly working on the ‘second and third instalments’ of bourgeoning franchise Dead Space, according to media reports.

Entertainment publication Variety reports details on an upcoming Dead Space movie, though also writes,

“EA launched the game in 2008 and is working on the second and third instalments.”

Develop has contacted EA for clarification, as it’s unclear whether the alleged ‘second-instalment’ is indeed Dead Space Extraction – the upcoming Wii title – or whether EA is set to create a Dead Space trilogy.

Dead Space’s presence has been steadily rising. Somewhat overlooked during its release in a tightly-packed market during the closing months of 2008, the team at Visceral began to accumulate various awards for the game’s audio design and visuals.

Despite a dubious sales performance for the first title, at a time when EA was looking to tighten its purse strings, EA CEO John Riccitiello reinforced the publisher’s ambition to carry on with the franchise.

Soon after, the company revealed a Dead Space game for the Wii.
