Atari announces Alone in the Dark: Illumination

The Alone in the Dark IP is making a return.

Atari has announced that Alone in the Dark: Illumination will be released on PC this autumn and feature a mix of new twists, storylines and gameplay to give players a frightening new experience”.

Chief amongst the new features is online co-op multiplayer spread across four characters.

We shall try very hard to not comment on the fact that a game called ALONE in the DARK will focus on CO-OP and is called ILLUMINATION.

It has also announced Haunted House: Cryptic Graves.

Atari was at the forefront of the survival horror game genre, with both Haunted House and Alone in the Dark shaping the category throughout the ‘80s and ‘90s,” Atari CEO Fred Chesnais said.

The modern and updated versions of these games will resonate with enthusiasts of the classics worldwide, and engage new fans through suspenseful, action-packed PC gameplay.”

The last Alone in the Dark game to be released Eden Games’ 2008 title Alone in the Dark, which was widely panned by critics but did win itself somewhat of a cult following.

The series debuted in 1992. Illumination will be the sixth release in the series.
