Bad Company 2 wows critics

We were already expecting Battlefield: Bad Company 2 to become the seventh UK no.1 when the charts are released next week – and the critical reception being won by EA’s shooter following the lifting of its review embargo will do nothing to hurt its chances.

The game – which is developed by highly respected Swedish studio DICE – is currently averaging 92 per cent on aggregation site Metacritic (for the Xbox 360 version).

The game has also secured its first top score, with GamePro seeing fit to award it 5/5.

Eurogamer, which gave the game 9/10, went as far as to say: Bad Company 2 is an open challenge to the market leader, Activision’s blockbuster behemoth [MW2]. So let me pin my flag to the mast right from the start. This is the superior game.”

IGN added that it’s taken a fair amount of time to get there, but Bad Company 2 marks the point DICE finally delivered the full Battlefield package.”

Battlefield: Bad Company 2 is released on Xbox 360, PS3 and PC this Friday.
