Before and After – Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 5 becomes cel-shaded

Just two months ahead of launch, Activision has completely changed the visual style of Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 5.

The game was officially announced in May. However, following the first gameplay video last month it faced a huge amount of criticism for its graphics, which many felt were far below par for what is expected on modern consoles.

Now Activision has shown off he game at Gamescom with a brand new cel-shaded look.

The consensus seems to be that the change is for the better, although that such major overhauls are taking place to close to launch is also raising plenty of eyebrows.

Here’s a closer look at the graphical changes. Note that the ‘before’ images were only released on July 13th.:

Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 5 will be released in the UK on October 2nd.
