Blizzard MOBA Heroes of the Storm enters closed beta

Blizzard has kicked off closed beta testing for its upcoming ‘online team brawler’ Heroes of the Storm.

The publisher will be inviting a select number of players to try the free-to-play MOBA-like game, with sign-up available at heroesofthestorm.com.

A new battleground – the desert-themed Sky Temple – and hero – ‘melee assassin’ Thrall, Warchief of the Horde – as well as the ‘Hero League’ ranked play mode, which allows players level 30 and above with 10 characters or more to queue up and take on similar players, and other features, have also been added to the beta.

Heroes of the Storm sees players pit iconic heroes from Blizzard’s two-decade-plus history – spanning the Warcraft, StarCraft and Diablo universes – against one another in the brand new universe-melding ‘Nexus’ environment.

At this moment, the game includes six battlegrounds and 32 customisable characters, with a range of skins and mounts.
