Bungie files trademark for ‘The Taken King’

Bungie has applied for a trademark relating to something called The Taken King,” according to a US Patent and Trademark Office filing unearthed today.

Polygon reports on the discovery, pointing to evidence that the downloadable video games” trademark could be related to Destiny.

The logo attached to the filing is similar to the symbol for the Hive alien race in Destiny for instance, and the trademark’s application was submitted by attorney Jim Charne – who is listed on the trademark applications for Destiny’s The Dark Below and House of Wolves expansions.

Destiny publisher Activision previously announced that Bungie is working on a "major content release" for the game that’s currently planned for this fall.

The two companies have yet to issue any comment on the filing.
