Capcom buys Blue Castle Games

Capcom global head of production and R&D Keiji Inafune has confirmed that the company are buying Blue Castle Games, the Canadian studio behind the upcoming Dead Rising 2, at Capcom’s press conference at the Tokyo Game Show today.

Blue Castle Games was co-founded by CEO Rob Barrett and creative director Jason Leigh in 2005 and currently employs around 170 people in the Vancouver area. It was perhaps best known for work on 2K Sports baseball titles The Bigs before its involvement with Capcom began.

According to the company’s website, Inafune worked closely with the Blue Castle Dead Rising 2 team throughout the development process in his role of producer. Blue Castle Games will be renamed Capcom Games Studio Vancouver as a result of the buyout.
