Channel 4 hires games commissioning editor

Channel 4 has appointed former Realtime Worlds studio manager Colin Macdonald as its first ever games commissioning editor.

He will work on commissioning games related to the station’s TV shows as well as projects that have potential to cross over to the small screen. Macdonaldwill also act as Channel 4’s main point of contact with the games industry.

I’m delighted to be joining the team and tremendously excited by the possibilities for gaming within Channel 4,” said Macdonald.I am very much looking forward to working with the UK’s finest in games development talent to build on the great work that’s been achieved so far."

Macdonald worked atDMA Design in 1997 as producer for the Grand Theft Auto franchise. He went on to become studio manager at Realtime Worlds, where he helped raise over $80m in investment and looked after development of open-world Xbox 360 action title Crackdown.
