Mad Fellows, Mechabit, Pixel Squad, Tickity Boom, Oceloid, RetroFist, Total Monkery and Close Quarter Games to get support with game development

Creative England offers £25k to eight UK studios

Eight UK game studios are set to receive £25k each in funding from Creative England’s Greenshoots programme.

In collaboration with Microsoft, the initiative will help fund game development for tablet and mobile devices, as well as Xbox One. Developers will also get the chance to attend workshops and will receive advice from industry experts.

Studios on the programme are Mad Fellows, Mechabit, Pixel Squad, Tickity Boom, Oceloid, RetroFist, Total Monkery and Close Quarter Games.

Games from each developer are expected to be released later this year.

“A huge 95 per cent of UK video games companies are micro or small businesses1, and programmes like Greenshoots give these studios the boost they need to take their game to market," said Creative England head of games and digital media Jaspal Sohal.

“In this second round of Greenshoots we have an impressive group of innovative studios who not only have brilliant ideas but also the business acumen to grow as a company too. And with Microsoft’s input we can also offer these developers a huge opportunity to receive advice and mentoring from a major platform holder.”
