Crysis 2 delayed until 2011

EA has confirmed that it has delayed the release of Crytek’s tech-heavy console shooter Crysis until the last quarter of its current financial year.

This means the game will not longer arrive before Christmas, as had been previously suggested, but will instead hit retail some time between January and March next year.

No reason was given for the slip, though it’s unlikely to be down to fear of the opposition. As the first release for the impressive PC IP on consoles, Crysis 2 is eagerly anticipated by gamers and is likely to perform very strongly.

More likely, perhaps, is that the Crytek team is being given more time to deliver on the hefty technical promises made of the title.

High-profile FPS titles still due out in the run-up to Christmas include Call of Duty: Black Ops, Medal of Honor, Halo Reach, Goldeneye and FEAR 3.
