Dark Souls 2 announced for Xbox 360, PS3, PC

The sequel to soul-crushingly hard RPG Dark Souls was announced at the Video Game Awards.

Dark Souls 2 will be developed by From Software and publisher Namco Bandai has promised that it will offer fans exactly the kind of demanding challenges and never-ending struggle that became the hallmark of this whole series”.

Both publisher and developer have also, worryingly for fans, promised a more straightforward and accessible experience.

While series creator Hidetaka Miyazaki will oversee production of the game, Tomohiro Shibuya, who has worked on Capcom’s Monster Hunter franchise, will serve as the game’s director.

The game will receive a full reveal in the upcoming issue of Edge magazine.

Dark Souls is scheduled for release on Xbox 360, PS3 and PC.
