DC Universe Online subs discounted

From tomorrow gamers will be able to claim a significant discount off the price of a subscription to the recently released PS3 and PC MMO DC Universe Online.

The PlayStation blog reports that 25 per cent has been taken off the price of a three month subscription, dropping from $41.99 to $29.99.

Any user taking advantage of the promotion will be able to stick at that price for the length of their subscription.

But you can dispel any idea of the game being discounted due to raw sales – developer SOE has already revealed that it’s the fastest selling title in the studio’s history. And considering other SOE releases include the likes of EverQuest, Bejeweled 2 (on PSN) and Star Wars Galaxies, that’s mightily impressive.

What we don’t know, however, is the conversion rate from buyers of the game using the free 30-day trial to full-time subscribers.

DC Universe Online claimed tenth place in the UKIE GfK Chart-Track All Formats Top 40 in its debut week in January.
