Destiny: The Taken King claims PSN’s records

The expansion to Bungie’s co-op focused shooter Destiny has claimed a new PlayStation Network record.

Publisher Activision says that the game has become the most downloaded day one new release on Sony’s network. It has also claimed the record for the highest number of total players and peak online concurrency – beating the original Destiny launch.

Destiny: The Taken King is officially the most downloaded game on day-one in PlayStation history and set a new benchmark for both total Destiny players and peak online concurrency on day-one, so it’s safe to say the Destiny franchise continues to gain momentum,” Activision Publishing CEO Eric Hirshberg said.

Along with our talented partners at Bungie, we cannot wait to watch the community continue to grow and tackle the King’s Fall Raid kicking off on Friday.”
