Heavy Rain creator takes home a pair of prizes

Develop Awards: Two for Quantic Dream

Parisian studio Quantic Dream has tonight been presented with two hotly contested accolades at the pivotal Develop Awards.

In front of some of the games industry’s most influential members the team behind Heavy Rain were recognised with the coveted Best New IP award for their work on the narrative driven thriller, and the Independent Studio prize.

Almost universally popular and extremely innovative, David Cage’s noir crime adventure Heavy Rain remains one of the most talk about, well reviewed games of the past few years, and has proved that ‘casual’ mechanics can be used to great effect in traditional, narratively elaborate titles.

The pair of awards will no doubt bolster Quantic Dream’s already exemplary reputation.

The firm’s achievement is all the more admirable when you consider that in the Independent Studio category it was up against Realtime Worlds, Sumo Digital, Remedy, Jagex and Red Lynx, while it jostled with titles like Blur, Alan Wake and APB for the Best New IP award.
