Develop source confirms that previously announced dev downsizing is US-only

Disney’s cut-backs won’t include UK Black Rock team

UK development staff working for Disney are not included in yesterday’s announced studio cuts, Develop understands.

Disney owns one UK studio, Brighton-based Black Rock – which developed last year’s off-road racer Pure.

Yesterday was troublesome for developers working at Disney’s US studios – up to 30 staff are to be let got from its Vancouver, Canada-based Propaganda studio while its Fall Line and Avalanche teams will be merged, causing 20 more jobs to be lost.

Such cut-backs – which also included a freeze on exec bonuses and recruitment – aren’t being implemented at the UK.

Indeed, it’s understood that the UK racing studio is still expanding as work continues on its new unannounced projects.
