E3 2010: Metal Gear Solid Rising is a prequel

Konami confirmed more details for its next Metal Gear Solid game at its E3 press conference last night.

Turns out that Metal Gear Solid: Rising, the next multiplatform console game in the series – and which took centre stage at Xbox’s E3 event – will in fact be a prequel to previous game MGS4.

MGS4 was PS3-only, but Rising is heading for Sony’s machine plus 360 and PC.

The game is mostly an action slasher but has some stealth elements. The plot covers spin-off character Raiden and his transformation in a robot ninja – gameplay seems to involve him collecting robot spins to progress. Sounds lovely.

Rising is being produced by Konami’s Shigenobu Matsuyama, series creator Hideo Kojima is only overseeing the project as executing producer.
