Japanese developer takes over reins from now defunct studio Cavia

E3 2015: Platinum Games working with Square Enix on NieR 2

Platinum Games is working on a sequel to 2010 action adventure NieR.

The studio takes over reins of the IP from previous developer Cavia, which closed shortly after the original title’s release.

NieR 2 will be published by IP owner Square Enix. Platinum said the publisher had approached it to add its own style to the franchise.

Square Enix was keen to stress the title was in very early development. More information is expected to be announced during the autumn.
