SQUARE ENIX: There’s a new Nier on the way, developed by Platinum Games

Square Enix’s cult action adventure game Nier is getting a sequel.

Teased with a cinematic trailer during Square Enix’s E3 press conference, the upcoming game was said to be in the very early stages of production.

Bayonetta and Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance studio Platinum games will be helming the project, with the game designer for the latter title leading the title’s creation.

He took the stage in a mask based on one of the original game’s characters, remaining disguised throughout his speech about the game.

The title was additionally confirmed for PS4 exclusivity.

Square Enix added that it was pouring ‘everything it has’ into the development of the followup to the original 2010 game, in order to match up to the passion of fans.

The subtitle of the game remains a secret, with more information teased for reveal in Fall 2015.
