The Sims on Stage provides online karaoke performance venue

EA devs launch Sims community site

EA has launched a community site for fans of The Sims, described as an ‘interactive online playground’, launching the Sims brand into the web 2.0 sphere.

The Sims on Stage allows users to record content such as karaoke songs, comedy routines and stories share them with friends and the whole Sims community. The site is based on SingShot media, an online karaoke community we reported had been bought by Electronic Arts in February 2007.

The establishment of the community site embodies one of the core aims stated at the time of EA’s recent restructuring, that of wanting to get closer to its customers.

"The Sims has long had one of the largest, friendliest and most creative communities in the world. With the release of The Sims On Stage, we welcome a new kind of customer to our way of having fun," said studio head of The Sims Label, Rod Humble.

"The world of interactive entertainment is now broader than ever thanks to new web-based technologies, and we are thrilled to give you a new way of having fun with The Sims On Stage."
