Digital distribution platform makes way to Mac

EA Origin nears 40 million users

EA’s digital download service Origin is approaching 40m registered users across PC and iOS.

A decent jump, that, from the 30m registered users it reported in October 2012.

Around 500 titles are currently available on Origin including key EA exclusives such as Battlefield 3 and the upcoming Crysis 3. Interestingly, though, EA has put a lot of effort into convincing other publishers to sell their titles through the service.

The news comes as EA has pushed live the Mac version of Origin, complete with a software line-up of around 50 titles. The Mac version sports many of the features found on its PC predecessor, including cloud save storage.

EA is also offering a number of “dual-play” titles that when purchased on one platform is also available to the owner free of charge on the other.
