EA wants to emulate Batman Arkham success with new Star Wars games

Publisher EA has said it wants to mimic the successful reinvention of the Batman video games franchise with its fresh take on the Star Wars universe.

"The most important thing for me is that we take the Star Wars license and come up with games where peoples’ jaws drop," EA’s games label Patrick Soderlund told Polygon. "We need to do with this what [Batman: Arkham Asylum] did for the Batman license.

"It’s going to take awhile. We just announced the license and showed a sneak peek of Hoth. The speeder and the AT-AT will be in [the game] for sure."

It was revealed in May that EA had grabbed the rights to produce Star Wars games for the brand’s new owner Disney.

Patrick Soderlund later admitted that EA-owned Battlefield developer DICE had begged for the chance" to make a Star Wars Battlefront game.
