Far Cry 3 surpasses 9m copies sold

Ubisoft’s multi-platform sequel Far Cry 3 has sold more than 9m units, the publisher has announced.

The game had sold 6m copies as of May 2013, meaning its gone on to sell 3m copies in the past 12 months.

"Far Cry 3 has now sold 9 million units since its release in December 2012, which bodes very well for the launch of Far Cry 4 later this year," Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot said during the company’s end-of-year earnings call today.

Far Cry 3 is available on PC, PS3 and Xbox 360. Ubisoft unveiled Far Cry 4 earlier today, as well as reported the firm’s financial results for the past year.
