Mobile release of city building title amasses 22m downloads since December

FIFA and SimCity BuildIt boost EA revenue to over $1bn in Q3

FIFA and SimCity BuildIt helped EA record $1.1bn in GAAP revenue during the three months ending December 31st.

Digital represented nearly half of the publisher’s earnings during the quarter, with $541m made in digital net revenue, up from $410m the year prior. Packaged goods and other revenue sources meanwhile amounted to $585m, up from $398m last year.

GAAP revenue for the year ending March 31st is now forecast to reach approximately $4.485bn.

EA’s most popular titles included the mobile release of SimCity BuildIt in December, which surpassed 22m downloads, while Madden NFL Mobile and Fifa 15 Ultimate Team together averaged 45 per cent more monthly active players in Q3 compared to previous iterations during the same period last year.

EA’s mobile games averaged more than 160m monthly active users during the last quarter, while the single player of its console game Dragon Age: Inquisition has been played for more than 113 million hours.
