FIFA outselling PES 4-1

With Konami’s PES 2010 slipping down the UK Charts with unfamiliar ease, rival publisher EA has beat its chest about the rate at which its own football offering, FIFA 10, is outselling the established Japanese franchise.

Speaking after EA’s financial report, EA COO John Schappert stated: The sell through for FIFA 10 at retail in Europe is 31 per cent ahead of last year’s FIFA 09 on a comparable period basis.

And we are outselling Pro Evolution Soccer 2010 4-to-1.”

There’s more good news on the football front for EA, too, with the revelation that following self-proclaimed ‘discouraging’ sales of Madden 2010 in North America, the title seems to have turned a corner.

We sold 3.9m copies in the quarter,” Schappert added. After a disappointing August that had Madden down 19 per cent, sell through in September grew 8 per cent year-over-year, with more than 60 per cent growth on the PS3 according to NPD.

Madden sales are now up 5 per cent year-over-year on the Xbox 360 and PS3 combined.”
