Fischer lands US Square Enix role

Square Enix has announced that the former chief marketing officer for Microsoft’s Consumer and Online UK division Mike Fischer has become its new president and CEO of its US division.

He replaces the outgoing John Yamamoto who took charge of US operations in 2007, preceding the restructure that accompanied the acquisition of Eidos in early 2009.

Fischer’s former roles include director of marketing at Namco and VP of entertainment marketing at Sega.

We are pleased to have the benefit of Mike’s global leadership experience in interactive entertainment and look forward to the significant contribution he will bring to the growth of our North American business,” global president and CEO Yoichi Wada stated.

Yamamoto will now assume the role of executive advisor. We sincerely thank John for his years of hard work in the role and are pleased that he will continue to support us as an advisor,” Wada added.
