Forza 6 adds ‘optional’ microtransactions

Developer Turn 10 has introduced in-game purchases to Forza Motorsport 6 – but players can choose to turn them off.

Microtransactions were a hotly-discussed point of contention in Forza 5, and many players and critics were pleased when this year’s follow-up launched without them.

Two months after launch, however, and paid ‘Tokens’ have been added to the title’s marketplace. These can then be swapped for cars or in-game ‘mods’ for the singe-player mode.

This follows the similar post-release introduction of microtransactions to spin-off sequel Forza Horizon 2 a few months after the game hit shelves.

Forza 6’s packs range from 79p for 100 Tokens to 65 for 20,000 Tokens.

But players unhappy with the presence of paid content in the game can choose to turn the microtransactions off, Turn 10 added.

"Players who do not wish to see the token feature in Forza Motorsport 6 menus will have the option to disable this feature from appearing by turning Tokens off in the HUD Options menu,” it explained in a blog post briefly announcing the Tokens.
