250 out of work as company boasts of revenue growth

Gameloft closes India studio

Over 250 people are reported to have lost their jobs today as Gameloft closed its Indian office.

The shocking news broke the same day the company bragged about a 27 percent uptick in revenue.

Sources from the Hyderabad office told Gamasutra that all had seemed normal at the studio until about noon, when rumors began to circulate that trouble was brewing.

At 2:00, all employees were notified of a meeting to take place in 45 minutes.

Studio and HR manager Sarang Nafdey delivered the bad news, and one anonymous source said employees were told to pack up and leave.

The company internet was turned off and balcony doors closed.

Employees were reportedly asked to sign two documents: one a letter stating they were leaving for personal reasons dated from the 28th of January, and another from Gameloft accepting their resignation dated the 29th.

The source says that he and others have not yet signed the "fishy" documents.

Develop has contacted Gameloft for comment.
