Save the Children’s Maral Moghadasi beats Jon Hare and Samuel Rantaeskola to win

GamesAid industry poker tournament raises nearly £7k for charity

GamesAid broke its own poker tournament fundraising record earlier this week, with the industry chipping in almost £7,000 towards the charity.

Relentless Software, the developer behind the Buzz! series of quiz titles, served as one of the sponsors of the evening, as well as the host of the event at its offices.

Helpers from across the industry, including representatives of GamesAid, Relentless and Warner Bros, played their part in pulling off the card competition.

Prize donors included PlayStation, with winners awarded with items including a PS4 console, signed print of tennis legend Rafael Nadal and a selection of various films on Blu-ray.

The match eventually came down to three finalists: Sensible Software game designer Jon Hare, Simplygon product expert Samuel Rantaeskola and Save the Children’s Maral Moghadasi.

When it came down to the final set of hands, Hare ended up third, with Rantaeskola swiping second place. Moghadasi pulled out a pair of Kings to take home the trophy and the top prize.

But it was GamesAid’s set of charities that were the ultimate winners, as the evening’s proceedings raised £6,770 for good causes.
