Platform holder finally puts to rest the â??Sony Motion Controllerâ?? moniker in favour of new name, â??Moveâ??

GDC: Sony confirms Move’s nunchuck add-on

Sony has confirmed the name of its motion controller during today’s rare demonstration of the peripheral at GDC.

The firm also revealed that the device will be compatible with a separate Wii Nunchuck-style add-on.

Sony’s motion controller, now going by the official name of Move, was put in the spotlight today during an hour-long GDC press conference.

The peripheral, revealed by SCE president Shuhei Yoshida, confirms Develop’s previous news story in which an industry insider leaked information about the device.

Sony has also prmised that the package – the motion controller, as well as an Eye Camera – for "under $100".

SCE president Shuhei Yoshida said the device will be “a more precise responsive and immersive gaming experience,” adding that Move was “a solution for casual and hardcore gamers alike.”

A wide variety of demonstrations of the device ensued, from a customised LittleBigPlanet (where the in-game editor was controlled by Move), to a SOCOM title retrofitted with the motion controller unit.
