GT5 closes major year for gaming

Gran Turismo 5 will ensure 2010 ends with a bang as the last triple-A smash hit to roll out before Christmas.

That’s according to Sony, which finally released its long-in-the-making PS3 racer on Wednesday.

2010 has been one of the strongest years in recent memory for quality game releases, and we have culminated the year with the launch of Gran Turismo 5,” said Sony’s UK head of PR David Wilson.

GT5 has been in the making for five years and we believe that it will serve as a true driver of new console purchases. We know it has been a long wait, but we genuinely believe that fans of Gran Turismo will not be disappointed.”

A run of exclusives have driven Sony’s sucess this year including Heavy Rain, God of War III and PlayStation Move.

The platform holder is supporting GT5’s arrival with a high profile TV campaign and digital outdoor ads, with plans to continue promotions until the end of the year.

We are confident that Gran Turismo 5 will do great business between launch and Christmas,” said Wilson.
With five years of development behind it, Gran Turismo 5 will be on top of many gamers’ wish lists.”
